Wrekroom Renaissance 6/11/09: The Smoking Needle Edition
Friday, June 12th, 2009
That’s right, its kinda like a big deal when DJ Rasta Root comes through and spins. Back from overseas, Roots took the time out to stop by and bless everyone with some fire. He also brought with him all the way from Brazil MV Bill. Check the interview with him in Portuguese (translated of course) where he talks about how the movie City of God had such an adverse effect on his community in Rio de Janeiro. This cat is a real emcee and dedicated to improving the situation of people in his homeland, so big up to him for coming through and blessing us. Oh and check his freestyle…sick.
We also had an interview with one half of Black Noise, non other than Illastrate. The producer extraordinaire talks about their new album Midwestern Kids and how the project with him and Araphat came about. Check the title track we played from the album “Midwestern Kids”, but this was the remix that included Boog Brown and Small Eyez. The album hits stores June 16th so be on the look out for that. Also big shout out goes to Eljay and the people from the Stand for coming through and recording the show. You can catch them on Comcast on demand in your area and also online at myspace.com/standondemand
Don’t forget you can download the FREE Wrekroom mixtape mixed by non-other than 5 Star’s own DJ Black Daniels on our website, just go to www.5sgs.com/wrekroom.
